Hi All,

Has anybody attended the AIIM Courses? For details refer to
http://www.aiim.org/education/documents/ECM%20Brochure%200307.pdf

I am planning to register for one of the courses online. Hence wanted
to know about the quality and credibility of the courses. Any inputs?

Hi Nutan,

I recently followed the ECMp course in London. What is your
background. Maybe I can give you some advise...

Nutan,

I think that the AIIM courses sort of depend....mainly because the
AIIM organization is run in regions and not really by one large
organization. If I were you and you are looking for training
regarding document management and ECM...I would look into CompTIA's
CDIA+ Certification. CDIA stands for Certified Document Imaigng
Architect and the course focuses on how to effectively prepare for,
manage, implement and deploy a document management and workflow
solution to a company.

The courses are sort of hard to find classroom training for...but your
local AIIM chapter might offer a course once per year.

You can also search for courses and courseware here:

Hi Nutan,

As Bill Whalen said, "it depends"... it also depends what your
objectives are as to why you are looking to do these courses.

I know a salesperson who was finding it hard to get his foot in the
door, even with more than 10 years experience with Image Capture,
Document Management, etc.

He got a CDIA+ certification, and he admits he had to study hard for
it, but its debatable if he knows more now than he did before.
However, it is somewhat easier for him to get his foot into the door,
the CDIA+ is a recognized brand.

So, what are your objectives? Academic knowledge? Then the AIIM
courses have limited value.
Practical exposure to the field? Once again, limited value.

Are you new to the field? Yes, there is value for you to be had.

Are your current qualifications not recognized where you are
currently?
Yes, there is value for you in taking these courses, gives you some
"instant" credibility.

Are you looking for nice logos to put on your business card?
Yes, the AIIM courses are getting more and more brand recognition.

Hope this helps!

Hi Nutan,

Last week I attended the ECM Master Course in Tampa. It was great!

The CDIA+ is mostly about imaging and knowing the size of a scanned
TIFF... Where the ECM programme is much more about understanding the
core of ECM and how to use it to drive your business..

Are you a end user or a vendor?

In my class there where mostly end users, and I'm pretty sure that
they all got a lot of good and very useful knowledge! In my opinion,
everybody who manages IT, documents, records and runs a business
should take at least the ECM Practitioner Course.
